Amsonia illustris – Shining Bluestar – 1-Quart

An underused, low-maintenance, deer-proof and resilient plant similar to Willowleaf Bluestar (A. tabernaemontana var. salicifolia) but slightly taller, with denser flower clusters, shinier leaves and a greater tolerance to drought. Clusters of pale blue, star-shaped flowers sit atop the expanding stems and are an important nectar source for Mourning Cloaks and other Spring butterflies. Foliage is disease-free, never bothered by insects or slugs and turns a golden color in Fall.
