Another hybrid Bluestar from Intrinsic Perennial Gardens in Illinois. This ones claim to fame is a floriferous nature. Plants are heavy bloomers and each inflorescence typically has more flowers than seen on other Bluestars. This a resilient, deer-resistant plant with blemish-free foliage that will take a few years to reach mature size. It grows to a moderate height and a mature plant is usually wider than tall. Bluestars won’t “knock your socks off” but you’ll be hard pressed to find a more reliable perennial for your flower border. We like combining them with Wild Indigos (Baptisia) and Wild Geraniums (both purple and white) – though really their soft blue flower color combines well with just about any other perennial or annual.
