Fothergilla gardenii ‘Suzanne’ – Dwarf Witchalder – 3-Gallon

‘Suzanne’ is even more compact than the species and has particularly good fall color. Named by woody plant guru Michael Dirr for his youngest daughter.

A magnificent small shrub that offers superb flowers and foliage. White, honey-scented flowers occur in 1- to 2-inch long bottle-brush like inflorescences. Over a long period of time in fall the foliage takes on a cacophony of color: shades of apricot, orange, maroon, and crimson appear, often together in the same leaf. Prefers a moist, well-drained, acidic soil. An excellent choice for foundation plantings.
