Hydrangea quercifolia ‘Pee Wee’ – Dwarf Oakleaf Hydrangea – 3-Gallon

A compact form of Oakleaf Hydrangea with white flowers that fade to light pink over 6-8 weeks in summer. The leathery leaves turn a superb burgundy autumn color. Mature stems exfoliate to reveal a rich brown inner bark which is attractive in winter. Southern in origin, Oakleaf Hydrangea grows well in our valleys, but may not be cold-hardy at higher elevations in the Catskills. This may be particularly true for ‘Pee Wee’ which was discovered in the sand hill region of Alabama. Provide moist soil with good drainage and a 2-3” layer of mulch to enhance cold hardiness.
