Rubus ‘Royalty’ – Purple Summer Raspberry – 2-Gallon, 1-Year

A 1982 introduction from Cornell’s Ag Experiment Station at Geneva, this purple raspberry was developed by crossing black and red raspberries. The fruit is very large and sweet, and of high quality – its great flavor has made it the most popular of the purple raspberries. Good for fresh eating and excellent for jams and jellies, ‘Royalty’ can be picked slightly immature as a firm red berry. Eludes spring frost damage, as it flowers later in the spring. It has multiple insect resistances, including immunity to raspberry aphid, which should help to extend the productive life of the planting.
