Thuja occidentalis – Arborvitae or Northern White-cedar

$9.00$39.00

The best tree for screening but only in landscapes fenced against deer which browse it mercilessly in winter. This is a stately conifer with a pyramidal habit, and a thick, flaring, shaggy trunk with a narrow, rounded crown of feathery, fragrant dark green needles that turn ruddy red during winter. The peeling, red-gray bark conceals intoxicatingly aromatic, highly decay-resistant heartwood. Our plants are the straight species not a cultivar and will eventually grow into full-sized trees.
